Description
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A SCAFFOLD HELPER 1 falls into the medium physical demand category and will report directly to the Lead Carpenter /
Journeyman.
1. Displays a positive attitude towards Safety, Quality, Policy and Procedures.
2. Has the knowledge of and exercises all of OSHA, Brand and Customer policies at job site.
3. Complete a qualified Job Safety Plan identifying the hazards and risks and implement necessary controls.
4. Select and use proper PPE as identified on the JSP.
5. Demonstrate proper site preparation prior to scaffold erection, modification or dismantling. (housekeeping, etc)
6. Erecting and dismantling scaffold equipment as part of a crew
7. Observes safe practices and use proper ladder climbing techniques
8. Participate in the tool box talk
9. Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies using proper lift technique.
10. Putting up caution tape, flags, and hang tags on flagging
11. Complete other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor
12. Must complete level 3 of Mentoring Program until elevated by Supervisor or Competent Person to next level.
OTHER ASPECTS AND DEMANDS OF THE JOB NOT LISTED:
The ability to climb scaffold, ladders, and stairs on a repetitive basis is necessary to perform the day to day functions of a Scaffold Helper 1. Scaffold Helper 1 should also have a fair knowledge of system, and tube and clamp scaffold equipment. They must also be able to tie appropriate knots as they pertain to hoisting and rigging scaffold components. (Bowline, timber hitch & clove hitch) Other Scaffold Helper 1 duties may include;
1. Receiving and returning material to scaffold yard/lay-down.
2. Knowledge of quality control checks and inspections.
3. Knowledge of scaffold hand signals.
4. Knowledge of material handling techniques.
5. Basing out and erecting scaffold towers, hangers and cantilevers.
6. Installing toe boards, guardrails, ladders, etc. on scaffold towers and low level cantilevers.
7. Perform general laborer duties which pertain to the scaffold trade.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or GED, preferred.
2. Bilingual Communication, preferred.
3. Driver requirements in accordance with Brand Vehicle Policy, if required.
4. Must have at least 2 years of experience in the scaffold craft.
5. Must pass Brand’s skills assessment
6. Based on customer requirements, may be able to pass an extensive background check.
COMPENSATION
1. Hourly, Non-exempt
2. Rate based on project size, complexity, and candidate qualifications and may be adjusted based upon job. performance.
3. Additional compensation (per diem, safety incentives, etc.) available as per project contract.
4. No rate, level of job assignment or duration of job is guaranteed.
