You will be expected to analyze and recommend approvals/declines, or new loan terms for proposed transactions for Private Bank Clients.

What You'll Do
- Manage a complex portfolio comprising of Commercial Real Estate and Structured credit transactions (incl. lending against private equity / art / capital call / unsecured loans etc.)
- Review and approve transactions originated by the WM business in the US and support the growth of WM's lending book by managing the risk on a portfolio basis and in alignment with Risk Appetite. Portfolio coverage includes large and complex structured loans (including lending against unlisted / unrated / illiquid securities) as well as regular Margin Lending, Commercial Real Estate deals, Aircraft financing etc
- Interface directly with front office staff across the WM business division on credit approvals, credit requirements and relationship matters; liaise with clients (where required). Work with the Lending team (1st line of defense) and Relationship Managers to manage risk and actively engage in structuring transactions. Provide timely, transparent communication on the decision-making including risk analysis and approval conditions to the key stakeholders
- Lead discussion with both internal and external auditors to ensure that audits progress smoothly and that any issues raised are resolved promptly
- Assess frameworks and elevate current rating approach and underwriting standards of WM Commercial Real Estate loans
- Ensure timely identification of risks within the portfolio, including global, regional, and local market events and their potential impact on the portfolio. Ensure portfolio quality remains satisfactory, and any risk concentrations and risk limits do not exceed defined risk appetites and are compliant with risk policies and regulations
How You'll Lead
- Interface directly with front office staff across the WM business division on credit approvals, credit requirements and relationship matters; liaise with clients (where required). Work with the Lending team (1st line of defense) and Relationship Managers to manage risk and try to find an optimal solution especially on challenging asks. Provide timely, transparent communication on the decision-making including risk analysis and approval conditions to the key stakeholders
- Work with both internal and external auditors to ensure that audits progress smoothly and that any issues raised are resolved promptly
- Provide timely transaction and portfolio level updates to CRO senior management
Skills You'll Need
- Extensive work experience in commercial real estate and / or corporate credit and / or structured finance in major International Financial Institutions (with very hands-on experience covering commercial real estate transactions)
- Deep and broad Commercial Real Estate underwriting or credit analysis skills
- Very strong excel skill - ability to create financial models (if required). Programming knowledge will be an added advantage. Strong writing skills (ability to write succinctly)
- Strong analytical skills and an independent decision-maker with ability to support or defend conclusions
- Familiar with derivative products, legal documentation and an understanding of rules and regulations in the United States of America especially with respect to real estate transactions

- Educational qualification (preferable): Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Science, Statistics, Finance, MBA
Expectations
It is the Bank's expectation that employees hired into this role will work in the New York, New York office in accordance with the Bank's hybrid working model.

The salary range for this position in New York, NY is $170,000 to $280,500. Actual salaries may be based on a number of factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's skill set, experience, education, work location and other qualifications. Posted salary ranges do not include incentive compensation or any other type of remuneration.
