Charles F. Day & Associates LLC
Who We Are
Company Story
Charles F. Day & Associates was founded in 1995 and is an established provider of program management, life cycle management, logistics, and business improvement services to the Department of Defense. The business is HUB Zone certified by the SBA, and is veteran-owned/ service disabled veteran owned company. We are headquartered in Davenport, Iowa, near Rock Island Arsenal, IL.
Charles F. Day & Associates LLC was founded as a platform for dedicated professionals to be able to continue their commitment to our national security after their active duty life was over. We think of the company as a commercial extension and partner of defense, with the role of providing services to our active duty counterparts for which they rely on industry.
Our company is composed mainly of former military, family members of military or former military, retired DoD civilians, and HUB Zone residents. Seventy-five percent of our employees are veterans. Our employment strategy is to hire highly qualified individuals with civilian/military experience for those positions requiring DoD/DA specific knowledge, and HUB Zone and active duty spouses for the positions that support the specialized knowledge positions, such as general administrative. The majority of our employees are former military or family members. This business has a core commitment to our national defense and our nation’s defenders, and, to be a socially responsible member of the communities in which we work.
Three words best sum up our company: Character, Competence, Commitment. Because we are privately held, we are not driven to maximize shareholder Return on Investment, we focus on creating value and always give our stated mission priority in our decision making. As we have grown, we have been careful to maintain our company culture in all of our efforts. Our employees share the values of our company and meet the requirements of Character, Competence, Commitment. For most of us, we have shared the hardships of deployment and have experienced the burden it places on families. For this reason, we are family-supportive in our philosophy, policies, and social support initiatives.
We are also a successful business with the structure, people, culture, and financial health to maintain our role as a valued service provider. Without business health, we cannot perform our mission of supporting our national defense. Our leadership team is extremely well qualified and is engaged in continuous professional development. We have engaged in continuous process improvements and process re-engineering through tools including Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, ISO 9001:2008, and benchmarking. Increasing efficiency and effectiveness allows us to create and pass on greater value to our customers - and ultimately, to end users at the point of the spear. We have initiated Activity Based Cost Management and Balanced Score Card to continue our pursuit of excellence in providing value. Our business model and our accomplishments have resulted in our being recognized as one of the fastest growing privately held companies in the US by the INC 500. We have also been recognized as one of the Top 100 Service Disabled Veteran-Owned Business (SDVOB) by DiversityDusiness.com.
