Summary:


As part of the Rollins College Wellness Center , the Director of Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) develops and implements a holistic approach to college mental health services, positively impacting student well-being. The Director leads CAPS in providing short-term, solution-focused mental health services, fostering student resilience, academic success, and personal growth. This role requires expertise in integrated care models and assessment practices to meet the diverse needs of students.

  • Strategic Leadership
    • Develop and articulate a strategic vision for CAPS that promotes accessible, student-centered mental health services, fosters a campus culture of belonging and well-being.
    • Lead efforts to review CAPS practices, structures, and resources to expand access to mental health services and improve service delivery.
  • Clinical Oversight
    • Ensure high standards for clinical services, focusing on short-term psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and inclusive outreach programming.
  • Collaboration
    • Partner with leaders from Health Services, Health Promotions, the Student Outreach and Resource Center (SOAR), and campus partners to support integrated, multidisciplinary approaches to student well-being and student mental health needs.
    • Build referral networks with community mental health providers to ensure continuity of care for students.
  • CARE/Behavioral Intervention Team
    • Serve as a key member of the CARE Team and support the CARE Team's efforts to balance individual needs with the safety and well-being of the broader campus community.
  • Assessment and Evaluation
    • Lead assessment efforts, including data collection, analysis, and reporting, to evaluate CAPS programs and inform evidence-based decision-making.
    • Use data to identify service trends, assess the effectiveness of existing programs, and adapt services to meet the evolving mental health needs of the student body.
  • Operational Management
    • Oversee administrative functions, including budget management, policy development, and accreditation compliance.
    • Manage and maintain CAPS' electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Staff Supervision and Development
    • Supervise and support a multidisciplinary team of professional staff, graduate assistants, and interns, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented work environment.
    • Provide ongoing training and support to ensure staff deliver high-quality mental health care aligned with professional ethical standards and Florida licensure requirements.
  • Outreach and Consultation
    • Provide training and consultation to faculty, staff, and students on mental health topics.
    • Develop and implement initiatives that enhance the accessibility and responsiveness of CAPS services.
  • Direct Clinical Services
    • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation.

Minimum Qualifications & Education:
  • Master's Degree (M.A., M.S.W., or equivalent) in a mental health-related discipline.
  • Advanced clinical training and leadership preparation (Ph.D./Psy.D.) or comparable leadership and clinical experience (Master's level).
  • Current Florida licensure or eligibility for licensure through endorsement is required.
  • Must demonstrate active clinical licensure in another state, with evidence of clinical practice for at least three of the last five years, and complete Florida-specific coursework (e.g., laws, rules, and HIV/AIDS training).

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Ph.D., Psy.D.
  • Experience addressing systemic barriers to care, such as socioeconomic inequities or historical trauma, through culturally informed programs and services.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills that foster collaboration across diverse campus communities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to lead initiatives that expand access to mental health services, enhance campus well-being, and foster a student-centered care environment that ensures accessibility for all students.
  • Demonstrated success in providing mental health services that are sensitive to the varied backgrounds, life experiences, and needs of a diverse student population, including those who may encounter barriers to care.
  • Experience leading assessment efforts and using data to inform programs that advance access and equity.

Work Environment:

  • Campus-based, front-facing position, working in an office environment.
  • Work requires visual strain and the use of a computer.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as appropriate for business needs.
