Job Summary and Qualifications
The Division VP of Medical Transport provides leadership and operational oversight of Division’s medical transport programs including all owned and contracted services. The scope of responsibilities includes, but is not limited to: Division medical transport program administration and management, strategic planning, business development, community relations, regulatory and aviation compliance, assuring excellent patient care and satisfaction, and meeting safety standards. The VP is charged with the operational integration across Division service lines, clinical services, ground transport operations, aviation operations, PLC integration and dispatch/communications functions. As a leader in the combined PLC/Medical Transport space, the VP will partner with PLC, facility, and Division leaders to align processes that facilitate and support improvement of patient flow and overall throughput.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
- Executive management of Division medical transport services & programs.
- Responsible to create and lead a collaborative Division Medical Transport Council that includes executive leaders from applicable Division service lines, Division transfer center, Enterprise Emergency Operations (ad hoc) and members of the aviation and ground medical service provider management team.
- Responsible for planning, development, and implementation of long and short term strategic initiatives aimed at growing the program, as well as serving the needs of the Division hospitals and the community.
- Directs all operational aspects of emergency medical transport including rotor, fixed-wing and ground vehicles.
- Partners with vendors to assure implementation of regulatory and safety policies/procedures in conjunction with the ground, rotor and fixed wing operations.
- Responsible for development, implementation and monitoring of operational and capital budgets
- Monitors and supervises billing and compliance processes for the service.
- Monitors trend demands and resource utilization.
- Develops, negotiates and monitors rotor, fixed-wing and ground transport contracts.
- Serves as the key community contact and directs program marketing and outreach activities of program.
- Promotes Division’s culture through teamwork, respectful communication, maintenance of a professional environment, partnership with those we serve, and anticipation of patient/customer needs.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of transport medicine, aviation and regulatory requirements.
- Demonstrates an ability to work with a wide array of partners and constituents.
- Communicates clearly and concisely. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- History of strong leadership in setting high performance standards and holding staff accountable. Demonstrated ability to guide individuals and groups toward desired outcomes and delivering leading quality services.
- Establishes and maintains long-term relationships with vendors and customers, building trust and respect by consistently meeting and exceeding expectations.
- Uses effective approaches for problem solving and takes action that is consistent with available facts, constraints, and probable consequences. Has ability to make sound decisions under adverse conditions
- Demonstrates ability to critically evaluate and appropriately act upon information.
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or health related field or commensurate experience in air medical operations required.
- Master’s Degree in Healthcare or Business strongly preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of seven years of progressive management experience in medical transport.
- Air medical program experience strongly preferred.
TRAVEL:
Will require 40-45% annual travel to programs for regular site visits, assessments of programs, and to facilitate leader andprogram support.
