Job Summary
Oversees and manages the building services team. Oversees the organization and execution of custodial services for all 1.4 million square feet of University facilities.

Responsibilities

1. Building Services and Custodial Team Management - 45%

  • Leads and supports team supervisors in the development, review, prioritization, organization, tracking, and scheduling of daily custodial services, work requests, and event setups for the University.
  • Manages, trains, and develops Building Services staff to ensure all University facilities are cleaned effectively and efficiently according to University standards.
  • Establishes and implements quality control procedures and corrective actions as needed.
  • Assists the Senior Director of Facilities with the annual operating budget.
  • Supports facilities management leadership in planning and forecasting custodial needs.


2. University Partnership - 35%
  • Works closely with departmental leaders across the University, particularly the Conference and Event Services team, to support programmatic needs.
  • Utilizes work request and event management systems for daily services, special events, and seasonal preventative maintenance.

3. Vendor and Contractor Oversight - 20%
  • Manages selection and oversight of vendors and contractors.

Required Skills

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be able to interact professionally and effectively with a wide variety of constituents, including faculty, staff, students, contractors, vendors, and leaders.
  • Must have the ability to building a team with varied trade skills and experience levels.
  • Must be able to supervise a team.
  • Knowledge of cleaning industry best practices.
  • Awareness of APPA standards and procedures.
  • Knowledge of SPS standards.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, with the ability to develop and utilize organizational tools and applications.
  • Working knowledge of event management software and work order systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, Adobe Acrobat, and project management software.
  • Ability to development and analyze an operating budget.
  • General knowledge of cleaning equipment and chemicals.
Experience

5+ years of custodial experience or Proven experience supervising a team.
Education

Bachelor's degree or 5+ years of custodial leadership experience would be considered.

Additional Information

Travel: This position requires little to no travel.

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as desktop and/or laptop computers, photocopiers and smartphones.

Must be able to evaluate the exterior and interior cleanliness of buildings and inspect all types of custodial related or supported areas.

Complies with environmental health and safety requirements and procedures as outlined in University and State policies and directives.

Expected Hours of Work:
Typically, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with the expectation to work specific schedules and hours as identified and communicated by management. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. This is a 40 hour per week, 12 months per year position.
