Job Description Summary
The Assistant Professor Statistics/Data Science in Department of Mathematics and Statistics (tenure-track) will apply ability to communicate effectively in English, and excellent writing and communication skills, to teach, research, and perform service activities. Teaching - design and deliver courses that blend theory with practical application (undergraduate and graduate) in statistics and data science, mentor and direct graduate students, and employ innovative teaching methods to enhance learning. Research - pursue research which advances statistics and data science, publish in high-impact journals, secure research funding, and collaborate across the field. Service - provide service to the department, college, and university.

Minimum Qualifications
- Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Data Science, Computer Science or closely related field
- Candidate must be eligible to work at the time employment begins and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment.
- 12 months of experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow/Researcher.
- Candidates must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.

Welcome to Auburn University!
Auburn University was established in 1856 as the East Alabama Male College, 20 years after the city of Auburn's founding. In 1872, under the Morrill Act, the school became the first land-grant college in the South and was renamed the Agricultural and Mechanical College of Alabama. In 1899 the name again was changed, to the Alabama Polytechnic Institute. Finally, in 1960 the name of the school was changed to Auburn University, a title more in keeping with its location, and expressing the varied academic programs and larger curriculum of a major university.
Today, Auburn is one of the few universities to carry the torch as a land, sea and space grant university. Our fall 2014 semester enrollment was 25,912. Our students can choose from more than 140 degree options in 13 schools and colleges at the undergraduate, graduate and professional levels.
