Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics seeks a Genetic Counselor Supervisor to assist physicians in identifying family history and apply state-of-the-art testing instruments and modalities to determine relative risks and specific genetic counseling needs.

Job duties include providing individualized genetic education and counseling for patients and relevant family members, documenting/dictating key components via clinic note or other form of document specific to clinic format, ensuring documentation is timely and meets compliance standards, as well as maintaining ongoing communication and collaboration with the interdisciplinary health care team.

Responsible for managing recruitment, orientation, and retention of genetic counseling staff. Responsible for managing the scheduling of genetic counselors and genetic assistants and forecasting staff to meet customer needs. Provides staff disciplinary counseling as necessary and assists with corrective action plan. Ensures completion of maintaining continuing education requirements and state licensing.

Critical thinking, attention to detail, knowledge of electronic medical record systems.
