Salary: Pay range $26.36 - $29.66 Internal Classification: Career Track - Service, Job Level - 2 Job Status: Full time *** Job Description: What We're Looking For: Proficiency in painting techniques, including surface preparation, application, and finishing. Experience using hand and power tools safely and effectively. Knowledge of surface finishing materials, including mixing, tinting, and color matching. Ability to set up and dismantle ladders and scaffolding following safety regulations. Strong leadership skills to supervise and train student workers. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across campus. Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities. A valid California driver's license with a clear Motor Vehicle Record. Commitment to safety, including the ability to wear a respirator when required. Physical capability to lift up to 50 pounds, climb ladders, and perform physically demanding tasks. Alignment with PLNU's mission and values, including evidence of Christian commitment. What You'll Be Doing: Preparing surfaces by scraping, sanding, and performing necessary drywall work. Applying undercoats and finishing coats of stain, paint, enamel, varnish, and lacquer. Filling nail holes, cracks, and joints with appropriate fillers. Setting up ladders and scaffolding to complete elevated work safely. Organizing and overseeing painting projects in coordination with the Maintenance Manager. Supervising student workers and ensuring adherence to safety procedures. Managing project priorities to meet the high demands of the campus. Ensuring compliance with Cal/OSHA safety regulations, including PPE use and hazardous material handling. Maintaining a strong customer service focus with a proactive and solutions-oriented approach. Qualifications: Demonstrated expertise in painting techniques, including surface preparation, coating application, and finishing work. Proven experience in handling and maintaining painting tools, such as brushes, rollers, sprayers, and power tools. Strong knowledge of surface finishing materials, including proper mixing, tinting, and color matching. Understanding of workplace safety regulations, including hazardous materials handling, fall protection, and PPE use. Experience in supervising and training staff or student workers, ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Ability to manage multiple projects efficiently, adjusting to shifting priorities. Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact professionally with colleagues, students, and vendors. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Commitment to excellent customer service, maintaining a solutions-oriented and proactive approach.
