Deputy Director of the Law Library - Military Veterans

The NYU Law Library welcomes applicants for the position of Deputy Director of the Law Library. The Deputy plays a vital role in the administration of the Law Library and serves as a member of the senior leadership team. This position reports to the Director of the Law Library/Assistant Dean for Library Services and works collaboratively on the development and implementation of the mission, goals, and broad policy directions for the Law Library.
Key Responsibilities
• Leads and champions efforts to ensure the Law Library continues to enhance its resources and services to advance the missions and goals of the Law School.
• Works closely with the Director on managing all operations of the Law Library and assumes a leadership role in staffing and personnel management, strategic planning, access, and accreditation.
• Oversees and coordinates various administrative and operational functions and projects.
• Collaborates with and provides support to other members of the Law Library team in establishing and achieving strategic objectives and long-term initiatives.
• Ensures that the policies and procedures of the Law Library align with advancing the Law School?s goals and objectives.
• Acts as the Director?s representative when necessary and assumes overall responsibility for the Law Library in the absence of the Director.
Classification
This is a non-tenure track faculty position (Librarian of Practice), and after the first year is eligible for multi-year contracts.
Benefits and Terms of Employment
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $ 125,000 to $195,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Required Qualifications
• J.D. and M.L.S. (or equivalent).
• 7+ years of experience in academic law libraries.
• Skilled at navigating the emerging technological landscape and its impact on academic libraries.
• Excellent writing and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to participate in multiple concurrent projects in a given timeframe, monitor project workflows, and meet project deadlines.
• A broad academic law library background and an understanding of the principles and current trends in library science, services, operations, and technologies.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working and collaborative relationships and lead teams. As such, able to persuade and influence a wide variety of stakeholders at various levels to achieve results.
• Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
Preferred Qualifications
• Record of innovation in libraries.
• Supervisory experience.
• Experience in strategic planning and assessment.
• Knowledge of University human resources policies and terms of collective bargaining agreements.
• Ability to resolve complex employee relations and counsel department supervisors and employees on preventing and resolving workplace issues.
