Application Specialist - Military Veterans

Job Purpose

The work involved is related to the overall management and general business of the Application Specialist function. TRAVEL REQUIRED: Occasional travel may be required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Application Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting for custom build and legacy applications, addressing user issues in a timely manner.
  2. Implementation & Configuration: Assist in the implementation, configuration, and customization of new and existing applications to align with business requirements.
  3. System Optimization: Monitor application performance, identify inefficiencies, and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and user experience.
  4. User Training & Documentation: Create and deliver user training sessions, develop technical documentation, and maintain updated user guides.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with IT internal teams, vendors, and business teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality across applications.
  6. Incident Management: Proactively identify, prioritize and resolve application-related incidents, escalating issues when necessary.
  7. Azure DevOps Management: Maintain and manage user-access and permissions in Azure DevOps.

Qualifications

•  Proficiency in web application management (e.g., IIS, Application Pools, Application 
Logs).
•  Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
•  Knowledge of databases (SQL) and application integrations (APIs).
•  This role requires the ability to assess user issues, identify the problem type, and determine 
the appropriate stakeholders for resolution. The ideal candidate should either resolve the 
issue directly or coordinate with relevant teams to ensure a timely solution.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or 
equivalent: 5 years of experience

 

Language Skills
Ability to translate technical information into user-friendly terms and collaborate effectively 
across teams.

 

Reasoning Ability
Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.

 

Other Skills and Abilities
Quick learner, able to adapt to new technologies and changing business needs.

 

Other Qualifications
• Experience with specific applications used in the organization (e.g., Azure DevOps, 
Postman, WinSCP, etc…).
• Knowledge of ITIL processes and service management tools (e.g., Manage Engine 
Service Desk)
• Knowledge of programming languages used by the Software Development Team (e.g., 
C#, SQL, JavaScript, Java)

  • This position will work in an office setting, expect minimal physical demands.
