Operations Manager - Military Veterans

What's the Job?

Consistent with CertainTeed IPG's vision, mission, values, and objectives, the Operations Manager leads efforts to elevate plant performance to world-class standards in safety, environmental impact, quality, service, and efficiency, while adhering to the financial internal control framework. This role is also responsible for leading all plant production and related operations to achieve maximum efficiency within established safety, quality, service, and cost standards. The Operations Manager is accountable for the production team's performance and for maintaining the applicable standards within the plant.

  • Reports directly to the Plant Manager and is a key member of the plant management team . Responsible for filling in during the Plant Manager's absence if required
  • Coordinates production to meet customer demands while ensuring that maintenance work and project implementation outages are optimized
  • Embodies and promotes the company's Vision, Mission, and Values, ensuring that employees do the same
  • Utilizes technical knowledge and experience to coach and mentor others.
  • Provides coaching and counseling to employees who are not meeting performance objectives and administers progressive discipline up to and including termination
  • Contributes to new equipment projects (Early Equipment Management) by providing resources and input
  • Ensures all plant processes comply with applicable financial Internal Control guidelines
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion within established policies and procedures, and shares responsibility for assigned department budgets and performance
  • Promotes an accident-free worksite while striving to maintain status aiming for world-class yield.
  • Continuously evaluates the workplace for safety concerns and ensures that behavioral safety initiatives are performed to meet goal levels
  • Ensures good housekeeping practices (5S) are maintained through regular audits, enforces plant rules and safety regulations, and counsels employees as needed
  • Ensures department employees receive proper training and regularly assesses their skills to address developmental.
  • Manages direct labor cost and variances by scheduling based on production volumes and ensuring raw material usage aligns with product BOMs
  • Regularly reviews performance data to identify gaps relevant to the team
  • Ensures the team operates within all legal, compliance, and applicable contractual obligations
  • Collaborates effectively and cross-functionally with all members of the plant management team
  • Participates in interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new employees
  • Continuously evaluates production performance and focuses on continuous improvement
  • Leads focused improvement projects based on identified losses
  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as required or requested by management


IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

What you Bring;
  • Bachelor's Degree , E ngineering, Science, Industrial Management, or similar discipline
  • 6-8 years working in production in an industrial / manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of extensive experience with the laws, regulations, practices, and procedures of lean/world-class manufacturing operations can be considered in place of a formal degree
  • Experience with SAP, HELIX MES
  • Travel up to 10% for Training and Safety Workouts
