Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY: Major Tasks, Duties, And Responsibilities

Under the general direction of the Director of Plant Operations, the Carpenter/Cabinet Maker constructs, repairs and maintains wooden structures such as furniture, equipment, partitions, and other parts of the Hospital buildings using hand and power tools. Applications include the professional measuring, cutting, shaping and joining of materials and finishes.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Education and Training:

· Ability to follow directions, and perform tasks with minimum supervision.

· Ability to construct or repair casework as required.

· Ability to install or repair plastic laminate as needed.

Minimum Work Experience:

· Five (5) years experience in carpentry field.

· Prior experience in hospital or building maintenance preferred.

Skills:

· Familiar with the various types of hand and power tools used in the normal course of carpentry work.

· Possesses a basic knowledge of electricity, plumbing, carpentry and painting as it relates to various duties.

· Ability to work well and interface with various personalities and situations.

· Ability to communicate effectively and express information clearly.

· General knowledge of systems and equipment normally found in hospital environment
