Job Overview



As a HR-Social Responsibility Intern, you will assist the Manager of Social Responsibility by supporting the development, implementation, and evaluation of initiatives aimed at positively impacting the community.  This may include researching potential projects, coordinating volunteer activities, tracking impact metrics, and creating communication materials to promote CSR efforts.   

This internship is available for Summer 2025 and will be based onsite at our South Harbor location in Milwaukee’s Harbor District! 



Key Job Responsibilities





  • Cultivate relationships with existing nonprofit partners and explore new partnership opportunities.


  • Coordinate employee volunteer events from planning to execution, including marketing, recruitment, communications, logistics, and supplies (e.g., blood drives, Intern Volunteer Week, Hank Aaron State Trail 5K).


  • Maintain accurate records of CSR activities and volunteer engagement.


  • Promote Milwaukee-area initiatives through internal communications (e.g., digital screens, newsletters, Viva Engage).


  • Develop a collection of employee volunteer testimonials for marketing.


  • Support the HR Team Engagement Committee as needed.


  • Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information.




 



Qualifications/Requirements





  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Communications, HR, Marketing, Non-Profit Management, or a related field.


  • Sophomore, Junior, or Senior in good academic standing (rising Juniors and Seniors preferred).


  • Strong organization, time management, and multitasking skills.


  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively toward goals.


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


  • Effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and resourcefulness.


  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).




Preferred Qualifications:





  • Experience in HR, Marketing Communications, or customer-focused roles.


  • Strong interest in writing and communications.


  • Leadership or involvement in student organizations/athletics.

  • Confidence and professionalism to engage with employees at all levels.

The Komatsu North America Mining Distribution and Service group is a critical part of our Komatsu global organization.  We, sell, install, service, provide parts and rebuild equipment, as well as provide digital solutions for our customers.  In the United States, we have a presence in 16 states across the US with 30 primary sites.  We have approximately 1,200 employees.   

Our group supports field operations at the customer mine sites as well as shop operations at the Distribution and Service Centers.  A large part of our workforce focuses includes technical trades.
