Engineer Technician - Military Veterans

Perform drafting work compiling and organizing engineering and drafting data, designing structures and recommending design changes, and preparing specifications and estimates. This position is in support of the Air Force Contract Augmentation Program (AFCAP) and is located at Ascension Island Auxiliary Airfield (AAAF).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Create and print custom maps via Defense Area Printing Service (DAPS) or other Government-directed system upon the request of the COR. The Contractor shall save the maps to the Government IDMS or other media as requested.
  • Provide engineering assistance and drafting support to customers, engineers, craftsmen, in-house projects and work tasks, and as requested by the COR and Det 2 CC.
  • Establish and maintain a repository of technical reference material, plans, and specifications for facilities that is easily accessible to the work force engaged in engineering, operations, and maintenance.
  • Maintain, within a government database as designated by the COR, as-built drawings for downrange facilities and infrastructure.
  • Complete CIP, MDS, MDL, master facilities plans, and infrastructure maps updates within 60 working days after receipt of as-built drawings from construction agency to include in-house projects and work tasks.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years computer technology experience.
  • Technician with at least five (5) years' experience, in their discipline in a drafting services lead role, and at least two (2) years of public/governmental organization experience.
  • Preference will be given to individuals who have worked on US Government and Military domestic and international projects.
  • Experience in the use of documents relating to the development of projects, contracting, and construction is necessary.
  • Working knowledge of Design Review, Project Mobilization, Quality Compliance, QA, Safety, Project Controls.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD 2009 or later and use AutoCAD to create presentable and accurate facility and infrastructure plans for concept and statement of work requirements for project execution.
  • Excellent communications, effective leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer literate; can use Microsoft Office and Project, etc.
  • Ability to read and write English is required.
  • Solid communications skills, strong interpersonal skills.
  • Strong ability to work as a member of a diverse, dynamic team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills and sound judgment.
  • Candidate should be other country national (OCN) or local national (LN).
  • Requires sponsored by a MP-ICAM Trusted Agent with a favorable background check with current cybersecurity training.
  • Non-U.S. personnel will not be granted a U.S. Common Access Cards (CACs) and must follow procedures for badging and access to Government facilities or installations. Instead, non-US personnel are issued Network Enterprise Alternate Token (NEAT), which is a smart card for accessing the unclassified AFNet or DoD network.
  • Possess a valid driver's license. passport from their country have ability to obtain any visa required.
  • Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment.
  • Prior overseas government contracting experience preferred.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:
  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Involves work typical of office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds.
  • Constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness,
  • Must possess planning/organizing skills and must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Some positions involve work in environments (e.g., shipboard, labs, outside locations, etc.) where mechanical equipment, etc. is installed, tested, analyzed/monitored, operated, and/or maintained.
