Systems Engineer Senior - Kwajalein Atoll - 3609 - Military Veterans

Essential Functions

  • Provide technical oversight for the operation, maintenance and improvement for the ALCOR and MMW radars.
  • Provide technical coordination for fault detection, fault isolation and repair at the system level.
  • Provide status and recommendations to management and facilitates the implementation of maintenance processes.
  • Make study recommendations, conducts approved studies, and provides technical review and/or oversight for improvement projects.
  • Produce a summary report describing the events/anomalies of missions as well as any lessons learned.
  • Responsible for maintaining radar performance through regular calibrations and systems analysis.
  • Work under the technical guidance of a Lead Systems Engineer and may be required to coordinate work with counterparts at other sensors.
  • Perform constant coordination and communication with the Software Team.
  • Verify and validate new RCP software builds.
  • Function as project lead for ECP, PST, O&M and I&M projects.
  • Make study recommendations and provides technical leadership on modifications; ensures all upgrades are done in compliance with the Mission Operations design process
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.


Required Skills

  • Understanding to analyze the data across many disciplines, including antenna, servo, receiver, transmitter, signal and data processing as well as power and cooling, to understand and resolve complex operational issues.
  • Complete understanding of all basic radar system and subsystem knowledge.
  • Ability to organize and communicate technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Ability to perform data analysis using MATLAB.
  • Demonstrated skills, knowledge and abilities in all development phases from concept development to final acceptance.
  • Strength in one or more of the following disciplines and familiarity with all: receiver design and maintenance, servos, digital signal processing, detection and estimation algorithms, tracking algorithms, monopulse, classification, system modeling and simulation, real time programming, digital control, and transmitters.
  • Knowledge of UNIX and object-oriented programming language, desired.

Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Two (2) or more years of directly related on the job experience including field installation and testing, calibration, troubleshooting and acceptance testing of complex hardware systems.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related engineering discipline desired.
  • Familiarity with Allen-Bradley hardware and software, desired.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance which requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • Must be able to relocate to the United States Army Kwajalein Atoll, Marshall Islands.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. passport
  • Physical ability to climb and work at heights up to 50 feet.
  • The flexibility to work occasional non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
