The Manager of the Release & Defect Management team will lead the team with oversight of the lifecycle of the releases and defects. They will enforce defect tracking processes, ensure timely resolution, and drive improvement. Lead the team and collaborate closely with development teams, test teams, and other organizational stakeholders to effectively move release forward, resolve defects as well as help drive scope, standardization, and process improvement.
This Manager will oversee the team working across different functional areas coordinating defect ticket activities and ensuring release best practice is followed, and defect hygiene standards are met. They will be responsible for tracking resolution metrics and driving cross-organizational alignment.

As a Manager, Engineering on the Release & Defect Management team:
- Lead, mentor and coach a team of Release and Defect Managers.
- Foster collaboration and a high-performing environment.
- Conduct Regular 1:1s, provide constructive feedback, and identify training and development opportunities for the team as needed.
- Responsible for Firmware Release Management and Defect Management team guidance, performance management, work delegation, resource allocation and problem solving.

- Continuously evaluate and improve the release process to enhance efficiency and reliability
- Champion the adoption of automation tools and technologies to streamline our processes
- Identify and implement metrics to track release performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Effectively communicate release plans, schedules, and status updates to stakeholders
- Foster strong relationships with cross-functional teams to ensure collaboration and partnership.
- Act as a point of escalation for release-related issues and provide timely resolution.
- Oversee management and maintenance of development, testing, and production environments.
- Ensure environment stability and availability to support development and release activities.
- Champion the adoption of process cross-functionally.
- Manage release schedules, identify potential risks and dependencies, and develop mitigation plans.
- Define and implement release management strategies, processes, and best practices
- Oversee the end-to-end software release process, from development to production, ensuring alignment with business requirements and project timelines.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO SPECTRUM
Required Qualifications
- Experience:
- 1+ year Project Management work experience preferred
- 2+ years of related supervisory experience preferred
- 5+ years of Engineering experience preferred
- HFC and Networking experience preferred.
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
- Industry and vendor specific certifications and training (NCTI, SCTE, BCT/E)
- Skills:
- Knowledge of company products and services
- Knowledge of Electronic theory, Federal Communications Commission regulations and Fiber Optic theory
- Demonstrated leadership qualities with proven ability to provide effective, results oriented direction
- Abilities:
- Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure
- Ability to prioritize and organize effectively
- Ability to provide coaching and counseling when necessary
- Ability to supervise and motivate others
- Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.)
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record within Company required standards

The base pay for this position generally is between $98,900.00 and $175,300.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
