The Rogers Lab at the Cedars-Sinai Smidt Heart Institute is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate I to join our team. A significant area of research in the Rogers Lab focuses on:
- The development of next-generation biological therapeutics,
- The molecular and cellular basis of disease and tissue regeneration,
- Translational studies using preclinical models of human disease.
The overarching goal of the lab is to discover and develop clinically-realistic therapeutic solutions for diseases refractory to conventional approaches. The Research Associate I performs a variety of routine experimental protocols and procedures to support the objectives of one or more laboratory research projects in a specific area of research. Under general guidance of PI, the Research Associate I will provide technical and administrative support in the lab. They will assist in general laboratory maintenance, operate specialized equipment and machinery, and observes safety standards and procedures. The Research Associate I will be able to perform routine cellular, micro- and molecular biology procedures including, but not limited to Western, Northern blot, DNA/RNA, PCR, protein extraction, cell culture, flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, and histological staining. Maintains lab equipment and related records. Performs lab maintenance duties, including glassware cleaning and sterilization. Maintains stocks of general lab materials, and places orders for lab equipment and supplies. Maintains a storage system and inventory of pathologic specimens Maintains all records logging procedures performed in the OR. Document procedure per protocol as well as any deviations from protocol Coordinates lab activities Maintain animal husbandry. Assists in the operation of specialized equipment and machinery. Observes and complies with safety standards and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelors in biology, chemistry, biochemistry, or physiology preferred
- Experience Understanding of general research objectives
- Offer technical support to keep projects moving forward.
- Solid understanding of database management, personal computers, and presentations
- Familiar with routine laboratory procedures and experimental protocols.
- Must possess computer skills to include, but not limited to, Excel and Word.
