Job Summary
To support our extraordinary team who build great products and contribute to our growth, we're looking to add a/an Sr. Director, of Corporate Public Relations located in Austin, TX or San Jose, CA. This strategic leadership role is vital for guiding the Public Relations function at Flex, with a focus on our transformational strategy.
Reporting to the VP, Enterprise Communications and Brand the Sr. Director, of Corporate Public Relations role will serve as a trusted internal PR consultant to senior leadership and act as a strategic partner in enhancing Flex's reputation among key external stakeholders. This individual will be responsible for developing compelling narratives and designing and implementing comprehensive PR strategies and tactics. The primary objective is to reinforce Flex's value proposition and positively influence perceptions among the media, industry analysts, customers, and other critical influencers and stakeholders.
What a typical day looks like:
- Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategies for Flex and the CEO that align with the company's goals, highlighting advancements in the manufacturing and power products sectors.
- Craft and develop compelling narratives that emphasize Flex's differentiation in the market, effectively conveying our unique mission, values, and innovations to various audiences.
- Collaborate with investor relations, the executive leadership team, and business units to ensure cohesive messaging across all PR channels.
- Position Flex favorably with key external constituencies, including media, industry analysts, customers, and influencers, to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
- Serve as a strategic advisor to senior leadership, providing insights and recommendations to navigate public perception and capitalize on opportunities for positive coverage.
- Create and maintain a crisis communication plan to effectively manage potential PR issues and protect Flex's reputation during challenging times.
- Build and nurture relationships with media contacts and influencers in partnership with PR agency partners to secure strategic placements and promote effective storytelling about Flex's innovations.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging issues that may impact public perception, using insights to inform strategic decisions and proactively address challenges.
- Manage a global team of PR professionals, including agency resources.
- Implement global measurement frameworks to evaluate the effectiveness of PR initiatives and adjust strategies as needed to achieve desired outcomes.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
- Bachelor's degree required. A minimum of 17 years of successful execution of public relations programs. Technology and publicly traded company experience required.
- Innovative, strategic thinking and planning skills with the ability to create and communicate the CEO's vision for the future and translate it into clear PR strategies and specific priorities.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with others across business units, functional departments, geographies, and disciplines.
- Understanding of and experience working adjacent to government affairs teams. This includes a general understanding of, or experience working for, a company involved in the geopolitical landscape and familiarity with trade restrictions.
- Deep understanding and experience with financial communications to effectively partner with Investor Relations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Demonstrated problem-solving, analytical, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership skills and proven judgment of talent, with an emphasis on hiring and developing high-performance teams.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to lead through influence and network. Highly professional demeanor and diplomatic skills. Ability to create effective partnerships at all levels of the organization.
- Results-oriented in setting and pursuing aggressive goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational success, and marshaling resources to accomplish projects.
