FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

New York City College of Technology of the City University of New York (CUNY), a comprehensive college offering associate and bachelor's degree programs located in downtown Brooklyn, invites applications for a full-time position of lecturer or assistant professor in the Career and Technology Teacher Education Department, to begin in the Fall 2025 semester. The assistant professor position is tenure track. The full-time lecturer position leads to a certificate of continuous employment (CCE).

The Department of Career and Technology Teacher Education offers Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S.Ed.) degrees in both Career & Technical Teacher Education and Technology Teacher Education. These programs are accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). Additionally, the department is preparing for a new computer science teacher education bachelor?s degree program. The CTTE Department is part of the School of Professional Studies.

Reporting to the Chair of the Career and Technology Teacher Education Department, the faculty member holds responsibilities that include but are not limited to:

  • Teaching diverse courses in the Career and Technology Teacher Education department.
  • Providing student advisement and guidance.
  • Participating actively in department, school, college, and university services.
  • Engaging in recruitment activities such as high school visits, conducting open houses, and attending professional activities.

The assistant professor position additionally requires ongoing productive scholarship.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Lecturer:

Bachelor's degree in STEM, Computer Science Education, Technology Education, Career and Technical Education (CTE) , or a related field is required. Also required is the ability to teach successfully and to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Assistant Professor:

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • A master?s degree or higher is preferred for the lecturer position.
  • Understanding of Learning Standards for Career Development and Occupational Studies, Standards for Technological and Engineering Literacy (STEL), and/or New York State Computer Science and Digital Fluency Learning Standards (CSDF).
  • Expertise in design, teaching and research within a makerspace/STEM laboratory environment is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge and experience with assessment and accreditation, including familiarity with state and national program requirements for teacher preparation.
  • Experience with student teaching supervision or clinical coordination.
  • A minimum of three years of K-12 teaching experience is preferred.

COMPENSATION

Lecturer - $74,245 - $94,418 (effective 09/01/2025 - $76,658 - $97,487)

Assistant Professor - $80,061 - $98,806 (effective 09/01/2025 - $82,663 - $102,017)

Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
