Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Nursing. Recent clinical experience required.
  • Unencumbered Ohio RN license and a minimum of two years full-time working as a register nurse required; broad experience in medical surgical nursing required.
  • Must possess broad base of clinical experience with significant work in a medical-surgical clinical environment.
  • Strong team-building and interpersonal skills and a willingness to implement a learner-centered approach to the teaching process.
  • Willingness to use technology to facilitate student learning
  • Successful completion of a background check and a drug screen are required.
  • Demonstrated in depth knowledge of the subject area to be taught.
  • Proficient in oral and written communication in the language in which assigned courses will be taught.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and maintain positive working relationships with students, peers, supervisors, and staff.
  • Belief in and concern for community service.
  • High ethical and moral character.
  • Proficiency with email.
  • Willingness to teach in a variety of instructional delivery modes including the use of instructional technologies and online learning management systems.
  • Commitment to diversity.
  • Commitment to meeting students' learning needs and empowering students in their learning endeavors.
  • Personal and educational philosophy compatible with the goals, objectives, and mission of Central Ohio Technical College.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior teaching experience in higher education environment.
  • Pediatric nursing experience


Summary of Duties:
Instruction and Student Learning
  • Deliver high-quality instruction that aligns with course objectives and institutional standards.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, assignments, and assessments to support student learning.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies, including technology-enhanced learning, to accommodate various learning styles.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students to promote academic growth.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and assessments in accordance with college policies.
Student Engagement & Advisement
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation.
  • Serve as an academic resource for students, offering guidance on coursework, study strategies, and academic progress.
  • Encourage student engagement through active discussions, collaborative projects, and real-world applications of course material.
  • Be available for student inquiries and provide office hours or virtual support as needed.

  • Promote an inclusive classroom environment that values diversity, equity, and mutual respect.
  • Model professional behavior and ethical conduct in interactions with students, colleagues, and staff.
