Liturgical Press is internationally known as a Catholic and ecumenical publisher in prayer and spirituality, Scripture, liturgy, theology, and monastic life. Founded in 1926, the Liturgical Press is the publishing house of Saint John's Abbey, a Benedictine community located within the 3,000 acres of woods and lakes on the campus of Saint John's University in central Minnesota.

A member of the Liturgical Press Management Team and reporting to the Director of Liturgical Press, the Director of Customer Experience is a senior level position responsible for the overall experience of those who interact with Liturgical Press across several touch points. While keeping abreast of current cultural trends and influences in the national and ecclesial environment, the DCX supports the authentically centrist Catholic, Benedictine mission of the Press through promoting exceptional customer experience, supporting its business goals and serving the needs of the church community and beyond.

The Director of Customer Experience serves as the champion for putting our community of readers and users at the center of our mission activity. To that end, the DCX collaborates with members of the Liturgical Press editorial, marketing, production and IT teams to achieve this goal, while driving the sales and customer service activities of the Press to achieve the established mission and business goals.

Content Contribution
1.Maintains a deep knowledge of and familiarity with LP new and backlist products
2.Actively contributes to LP content creation at project development and acquisitions team levels, specifically around target readers/users, market appetite and sales potential
3.As needed, supports editors/content creators regarding ongoing product development, brand identity, audience suitability; measures current product relevance/performance; collaborates on revisions; contributes to digital content as a customer touchpoint
4.Contributes ideas that come from knowledge, experience and insights gained in the field

Event/Outreach
1.Seeks and cultivates new outreach/event opportunities for LP, improving event experience for current audiences and uncovering untapped potential for the LP mission
2.Directs conference strategy and execution: planning events in collaboration with other designated staff; organizing and championing participation during conferences; executes post-event evaluation

Sales
1.Ensures excellent customer service: directs the training, managing, supporting and evaluating the customer service team for optimal customer experience that delivers sales results to meet LP?s revenue goals
2.Actively monitors sales and provides data analysis that studies the patterns regarding customer needs; provides timely reports and analysis to departments as requested
3.Oversees distribution channels (Amazon, bookstores, international distribution, library and electronic platforms, etc.) to drive revenue goals
4.Establishes new ways to boost eCommerce to increase front/ backlist sales and monetizing products through various formats and platforms (audiobooks, e-books, POD, library PDFs, etc.)
5.In collaboration with IT, explores potential CRM tools that will offer optimal parish and other customer support (history regarding sales, requests, personnel, etc.)
6.Interfaces with LP marketing to determine needed support to achieve business goals and objectives that will best serve those who turn to LP for their resources
7.Collaborates on campaigns that will provide exceptional customer experience and meet/exceed the revenue goals set by management team
8.In collaboration with the management team, determines the annual sales goals and relevant revenue channels; prepares and submits required annual sales budget information

Production Support
1.Oversees inventory monitoring, participating in production processes related to stock replenishment, offers informed insights regarding details on market trends related to pricing, quantities, seasonal timing, etc.
2.In collaboration with production and IT, directs book metadata management on various channels and through various stages of a product?s lifespan

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
?BA in Communications, Business or relevant degree required
?5 years? experience in sales required, including eCommerce and various digital platforms; religious book sales experience strongly preferred.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
?Theological academic education strongly preferred
?Familiarity with Catholic parish structure strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

1.Demonstrated senior-level experience and management, preferably in a non-profit organization.

2.Demonstrated strong analytical skills in financial management and significant experience in managing information systems.

3.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

4.Demonstrated leadership ability, team collaboration and interpersonal skills.

5.Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills.

6.Strong computer skills, e.g., Excel, Word, Power Point.

7.Willingness to create and foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive work environment.

8.Must successfully pass a criminal history background check.


PHYSICAL ABILITIES:


Sitting for prolonged periods of time. Extensive use of computers and keyboard. Occasional walking and lifting may be required.
