Basic Job Functions:
This position requires a willingness to rotate roll grinders, work rotating shifts, including weekends, and scheduled and unscheduled over-time. The role of the Roll Shop Chocker/Grinder includes, but is not limited to the following:
1. Operating, troubleshooting, and maintaining the quality of ALL CNC roll grinders, chocks and mill rolls which includes performing routine and preventative maintenance (PM) as needed.
2. Chocking and de-chocking all types of rolls.
3. Assist with the daily workflow through the roll shop based on the production schedule which includes the workflow between the roll shop, hot mill and cold mill.
4.Performing crane and safety watches, assisting with preventative maintenance, changing out equipment, and performing maintenance work on down days.
5. Ability to navigate/use RMS and Oracle computer programs.
Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. 1-year experience with Steel mill rolling processes.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience with precision measuring equipment.
2. Experience in a machine shop.
3. Experience or cross training in operating all roll shop grinding CNC equipment.
4. Overhead crane experience.
5. Hot Mill or Roll Shop experience.
Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
