Paralegal - Military Veterans

A Paralegal plays a vital role in supporting attorneys by conducting legal research, drafting documents, and managing case files. They assist in trial preparation, hearings, and client meetings by gathering evidence, filing court documents, and ensuring seamless communication between all parties. Paralegals are responsible for maintaining compliance with legal procedures, meeting deadlines, and upholding strict confidentiality. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of legal terminology and processes.

Duties & Responsibilities
Draft and organize legal documents, including affidavits, contracts, pleadings, appeals, wills, and real estate closing statements.
Conduct legal research, analyze statutes, case law, and regulations to support case strategies.
Maintain and manage records in both physical and electronic filing systems.
Assist in trial preparation by organizing exhibits and compiling necessary documentation.
File pleadings and other legal documents with court clerks in a timely manner.
Interview clients and collaborate with legal professionals to gather case details.
Investigate case facts, review public records, and determine causes of action.
Coordinate legal office activities, including the delivery of subpoenas and scheduling depositions.
Monitor legal resources and ensure that law libraries remain up-to-date.
Facilitate communication between attorneys, clients, witnesses, and court personnel.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Legal Knowledge: Understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and research methods.
Reading Comprehension: Ability to interpret legal documents, statutes, and case law.
Active Listening: Engaging with clients and legal professionals to fully understand case details.
Written & Verbal Communication: Strong ability to draft clear, concise legal documents and communicate effectively.
Critical Thinking & Analysis: Assessing case details and legal precedents to provide sound support for attorneys.
Time Management: Efficiently prioritizing tasks and meeting strict deadlines.
Attention to Detail: Ensuring accuracy in legal filings, research, and case documentation.
Coordination & Collaboration: Working effectively with attorneys, clients, and legal teams to manage casework.
Judgment & Decision-Making: Evaluating legal options to determine the best course of action.
Monitoring & Compliance: Ensuring adherence to legal procedures and regulatory requirements.
This role demands a high level of professionalism, discretion, and a commitment to upholding ethical legal standards. A successful paralegal is not only detail-oriented and resourceful but also proactive in managing legal tasks and supporting attorneys in delivering top-tier legal services.
