RESEARCHER ASSOCIATE

As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Initially under full supervision and eventually under minimal-to-moderate supervision, coordinate zebrafish care and handling in collaboration with other lab members

assist with molecular and cell biological experiments

participate in lab meetings

collect and analyze data

develop and improve techniques

Maintain satellite zebrafish colony, including updating records (Microsoft Excel/Google Docs). Cross zebrafish, collect embryos, sort via fluorescent expression for downstream experiments.

Work with postdoctoral fellows/staff scientists to create, test, and screen DNA constructs.

Assist with ordering lab supplies.

Perform experiments as part of a project-based team (optional).

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics

Preferences On the job training is available, but candidates with prior experience with zebrafish and/or molecular/cell biology, even if exposure is only through laboratory coursework, are preferred.

Must be comfortable with light and fluorescent microscope usage (after on the job training).

Previous experience in a basic science lab is a plus.

Hourly Range: $19.80-$25.75

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field

OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience

OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required.

Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
