POSITION SUMMARY To plan, organize, direct, and supervise assigned activities of the Facilities Management Department functions which are necessary in maintaining the physical structures, HVAC, mechanical, electrical systems, utilities, and grounds of the hospital in an operative and safe working condition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Reports daily to the Director of Facilities regarding the physical and structural conditions of hospital facilities and the status of work in progress. Oversees Facilities operations & Plant operations staff, utilizing strong maintenance and communication skills. Responsible for prioritizing and assigning work orders on a daily basis. Responsible for prioritizing, scheduling, and/or performing service and repair to the above systems, and any other equipment, as needed, including all preventative maintenance required. Responsible for scheduling and overseeing outside contractor work. Responsible for developing and maintaining operational budgets, materials inventory, and purchasing activities. Responsible for the understanding and participating in the organization wide Quality Improvement Program through orientation, education, departmental and interdepartmental quality control, quality improvement and quality planning activities. Available to the Director of Facilities for emergency response to Hospital situations. Applies cost-effective measures in utilization of utilities, staffing, equipment resources and supplies. Coordinate and instruct in-service training and/or continuing education for facilities maintenance and plant operations. Performs assigned tasks with a constant concern for safety. Responsible to work with and assist other departments directors, managers, and staff to provide support and promote cohesive relationships. Performs other duties as assigned.
