English Language Instructor Description of Department: Division of Extended Learning The Division of Extended Learning at SUNY Oswego offers programs and services to adult and non-traditional audiences to open gateways to new careers, enhance skills, or pursue lifelong learning. The Division provides access to higher education at all levels of the educational pipeline to expand horizons and further develop students toward their highest potential. International Language and Education Center SUNY Oswego's International Language and Education Center (ILEC) is housed in the Division of Extended Learning. ILEC offers several programs that help speakers of other languages to increase their English proficiency. SUNY Oswego offers a year-round English for Academic Purposes program (EAP) and a Summer Intensive English Program (SIEP). The Division of Extended Learning's International Language and Education Center at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a part-time English Language Instructor position for the Summer Intensive English Program (SIEP) . This immersive program attracts university students from around the world for short-term intensive English study on the beautiful shores of Lake Ontario. Posting Date: February 28, 2025 Review Date: Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Compensation: $8,000 Date of Appointment: Position begins June 17, 2025 and continues through August 4th, 2025 Description of Responsibilities: Deliver high quality academic English as a Second Language course to students who are participating in the Summer Intensive English Program on the SUNY Oswego Campus at Oswego, NY Plan, prepare and deliver lessons working on all skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation to groups of students based on ability level Carry out assessments Support students during program SUNY Oswego works continuously to create an inclusive environment which respects, embraces, and promotes cultural safety, belonging, civil discourse, cultural humility, and other values and goals outlined in SUNY Oswego's Strategic Diversity and Inclusion Plan . As such, the incumbent is expected to contribute to these efforts and possess communication and interpersonal skills necessary to engage effectively with an increasingly diverse community of students and colleagues.
