Job Summary and Qualifications

POSITION SUMMARY

(Imaging Services Assistant) – Under the general supervision of the Director and Manager of Imaging Services and the Supervisor of Imaging Support, the Radiology Assistant II is responsible for performing clerical duties and transportation. They also provide service to the technologists working in all modalities. Taking extra steps to assist anyone needing our service, to process and maintain patient information for all procedures, and providing the service professionally and courteously is expected of all staff. Our goal is to deliver prompt service to patients and expedient report times to our physicians.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION:

1. Facilitates communication between the Imaging Services Department and members of the medical staff and other hospital departments.

2. Ensures quality care to patients, adhering to policies, procedures, and standards.

3. Provides assistance, guidance,transportation and direction to patients and visitors.

4. Is able to handle high volume, high stress situations.

5. Assists with the provision of all clerical services in the department.

6. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education.

7. Upholds the highest standards of customer service at all times (“customer” includes patients, family members, co-workers, referring physicians, etc.).

8. Actively participates in Performance Improvement (P.I.) activities established by the Imaging Department.

9. Possesses knowledge of medical terminology sufficient to work accurately within the Imaging Department.

10. Serves as a mentor and resource to less experienced staff/students.

11. Completes other tasks and activities as assigned.

12. Adheres to the Customer Services Principles of West Houston Medical Center

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Must have exceptional communication and patient care skills, as well as strong interpersonal skills and problem solving ability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. High school graduate or equivalent
