General Requirements:
High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Four years of experience at a maintenance plumbing level or experience in a related field. Must be licensed as a Journey level plumber by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or must meet the requirements to obtain a license immediately upon hiring. Technical/vocational training related to job duties would be helpful. Additional education may be considered in lieu of experience.
Nature & Purpose of Position/Usual Duties:
Performs complex journeyperson level plumbing skills and occasionally assumes lead person responsibilities.
Primary Responsibilities (Staff Positions Only):
Responsible for complex tasks in existing and new construction of various plumbing systems, such as: water, sewage, drainage, air, gas and sewer lines, and systems. Performs related duties such as: installs plumbing, traps wash bowls, fittings, drains, special laboratory sinks, drain tables, and experimental tables. Repairs, replaces, and maintains valves, faucets, traps, sinks, wash bowls, sewers, and lead joints. Connects and maintains hot water units, gas heaters, and furnaces. Checks for safety and unstops clogged lines. May assist with estimates of time and materials required for a job. Performs other related duties as assigned.
