Medical Assistant - Military Veterans

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Medical Assistant to join our Rheumatology office in Cary, NC. This position will primarily involve rooming patients, pre-charting, and assisting providers with patient communication in a supportive and collaborative environment.

Position Details:

- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
- Pay: $18 - $20 per hour
- Location: Cary, NC (near Wake Med hospital)
- Caseload: 20-25 patients per day
- EMR: ECW
- Scrubs: Solid colors – navy, black, dark purple, gray

Job Responsibilities:

- Room patients and take patient history
- Administer some injections and provide patient education
- Handle patient callbacks and assist with prior authorizations (40% hands-on, 60% administrative)
- Work primarily with one provider, but flexibility is required as the practice is small
- Assist with patient communication and ensure smooth patient flow throughout the day
- Train for one week in EMR and shadow other MAs

Qualifications:

- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a specialty practice (rheumatology, hematology, cardiology, GI, pulmonology, oncology, orthopedics, or similar)
- Can be certified or non-certified if you have strong relevant experience
- Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to receive feedback
- Tech-savvy (Microsoft, Excel, EMR systems)
- Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills (able to speak clearly and confidently with patients)
