Neuroimmunology Tenured Professor #NEU046 | University of Chicago (UC) - Military Veterans

The University of Chicago's Department of Neurology in the Biological Sciences Division (BSD), in collaboration with the Grossman Institute for Neuroscience, Quantitative Biology and Human Behavior, is searching for a tenured professor, either a physician scientist or a basic scientist, to hold its Goldberg Professorship. The appointee shall be someone who, in the opinion of the Dean of the Biological Sciences Division and the Chairman of the Department of Neurology, has made and will continue to make significant contributions toward the development of treatments and potential cures for multiple sclerosis (MS) and/or other neuroimmunological disorders. The appointee will also help to lead the creation of the University of Chicago Program in Neuroinflammation, capitalizing on the intersection of several existing programs in the BSD and throughout the University. These include the Center for Motor Neuron Disease, the Pritzker School of Molecular Engineering, and the Committee on Immunology, to name a few.We expect the appointee to facilitate collaborations within the Departments of Neurology, and Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, and with faculty throughout the Neuroscience Institute. Other duties of the appointee will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students. Compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) is dependent upon qualifications. The Division, other academic units of the University, and the University of Chicago Medical Center, are all contained within one compact campus in Chicago? Hyde Park. The appointee will have access to state-of-the-art core facilities and to outstanding colleagues and graduate students affiliated with numerous degree-granting programs within and outside the biological sciences. Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, or PhD, in a related field 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois, if applicable and 3) be Board certified or eligible in Neurology, if applicable.
