Preferred Qualifications: PhD in Plant Biology or a related field
5 years of Plant Molecular Biology Research with Arabidopsis thaliana
Experience with confocal or light sheet microscopy
Experience with CRISPR/Cas-based gene editing
Experience with plant molecular biology techniques, including DNA, RNA, and protein analyses
Experience with the statistical analysis of gene expression data
Experience with cloning and transgenics
First author publications in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals.
Job Description:
The Department of Genetics, Development, and Cell Biology is seeking a Research Scientist II to join a dynamic team exploring a widely found gene in plants, newly identified as a key influencer of cell division in Arabidopsis roots. This project offers the opportunity to integrate cutting-edge approaches to understand fundamental processes underlying organ size control in plants.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Developing, designing, and conducting scientific research experiments.
- Lab Maintenance, to include overseeing plant growth chambers.
- Oversight and training of undergraduate and/or graduate student personnel in the laboratory to coordinate research efforts for increased efficiency.
- Grant writing.
Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.
This is a 2-year term position.

Intermediate-level position with solid professional and/or technical skills working under general supervision to achieve goals
Applies broad, working knowledge of the principles of the field to moderately complex, difficult, and varied problems and issues
Exercises judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate action and resolve problems

May provide training and/or direction to lower-level staff
May lead projects of moderate scope and complexity
Provides guidance to students
