Job Summary
The Advanced Practice Operations Director provides administrative and clinical practice leadership to APPs (Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists) in all health system spaces of UC Davis Health. In collaboration with the Chief of Advanced Practice, Chief Operating Officers, Chief medical Officer and Chief Nursing Officer, the APP Operations Director is accountable for the quality, safety and cost effectiveness of patient care provided by the advanced practice workforce. The Director is responsible for providing support and guidance to the Chief of Ambulatory Operations to evaluate best practices in workforce utilization and regulatory control. MGR234
The APP Operations Director works collaboratively with the APP fellowship director to support a comprehensive APP fellowship program through which currently licensed and certified APPs can safety transition to careers by acquiring the knowledge, skills, and professional behaviors necessary to deliver quality care. The Director ensures compliance with Joint Commission standards, State Boards, the Nursing Practice Act and other regulations.
The Director shall provide advanced practice care in their expertise with the collaborating physician and shall function in accordance with the appropriate state of California practice agreements or standardized procedures if required by licensure.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position
- Possession of valid California RN and Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner license, or Physician Assistant (PA) license
- Furnishing license if Nurse Practitioner
- DEA within 3 months of hire
- National Board Certification in aligned specialty
- American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
- Graduation with a master's degree, DNP or PhD in Nursing from an accredited School of Nursing, or graduation with a master's degree or PhD from an accredited PA school
- 3 Years or greater working in a leadership role with supervisory experience, budget management, working with advanced practice transition to practice providers in a fellowship, and developing curriculum.
- 5 years experience as a nationally board certified nurse practitioner or Physician Assistant within an academic medical center
- Extensive experience with regulatory control of advanced practice at a leadership level, managing and leading programs, work units or departments of comparable size, scope and complexity.
- Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by team members, other professionals, and caretakers
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong operational skills
- Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role
- Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider
- Strong knowledge of human resources practices and policies in a represented provider environment.
- Ability to guide, direct, mentor, train and work collaboratively in a team building environment
- Strong interpersonal skills to explain procedures and to interact effectively with a variety of medical staff and personnel
- Requires the analytical skills to collect information from diverse sources, apply professional principles in performing various analyses, and summarize the information and data to solve problems, or design relatively complex systems and programs that cross department/division lines
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Business Administration or equivalent
- Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant with both inpatient and ambulatory care experience within an academic medical center

Department Overview
UC Davis Health is at the forefront of incorporating Advanced Practice Providers (APP) as part of interprofessional care teams to support increasing numbers of complex care patients. APPs are vital parts of the multidisciplinary hospital based teams caring for our patients in specialty care throughout the UC Davis Health system.
Department Specific Job Scope
The Director is a practicing clinician and administrator. The incumbent in this position is 20% clinical and 80% administrative. The central responsibility of this role is to serve as a single point of contact, liaison, and expert for matters specific to the regulatory practice within UC Davis Health and clinical sites where our providers practice.
This position reports to the Chief of Advanced Practice.
