Vehicle Maintenance Technician - Toyota/Nissan Specialist - Military Veterans

The OEM Vehicle Maintenance Technician - Toyota/Nissan Specialist will be based at one of three PAE sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for performing maintenance and repairs on all site Armored Toyota and Nissan vehicles and will report to the Vehicle Maintenance Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

DUTIES:

• Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.

• Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance requirements and goals. Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance services, and repairs on Nissans and Toyotas. Maintenance includes, but is not limited to, checking fluid levels, hoses, belts, brakes, tires, clutches, and transmissions.

• Performing maintenance and repairs on all armored & non-armored Toyotas and Nissans includes run flat tire changing and wheel balancing.

• Diagnose problems, disassemble units, repair, or replace parts, and reassemble units in the following systems:

o Brake System: Repair or replace shoes, pads, drums, hoses, calipers, and cylinders.

o Cooling System: Flush radiator, replace hoses and thermostat, repair or replace radiator and water pump.

o Drive System: Repair and replace drive shaft, differential, axle, transmission, and clutch.

o Electrical System: Repair or replace fuses, batteries, lights, instruments, warning devices, controls and switches, computer controls, modules, alternators, starters, and defective cables and wiring.

o Exhaust and Emissions Control System: Replace mufflers, manifolds, catalytic converters, and pipes.

o Heating and Air Conditioning System: Repair or replace heater cores, evaporators, condensers, compressors, hoses, and controls; recharge air conditioning systems.

o Hydraulic Systems: Repair or replace hoses, valves, cylinders, compressors, and pumps.

o Steering and Suspension System: Repairs rack and pinion steering systems. Align and balance wheels, repair or replace tie rods, ball joints, gear boxes, shock absorbers, springs, steering linkage, kingpins, power steering, hoses, and pumps.

• Replace engines Toyota and Nissan engines and rebuild vehicle components.

• Maintain service logs and records of maintenance on vehicles and motorized equipment.

• Keep tools, equipment, and work area clean, organized, and in good working condition.

• Assist in training lower-level workers in automotive mechanic techniques, as needed.

• Road tests vehicles.

• Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform various clean-up activities.

• Observe and follows all safety rules and procedures, including wearing required personal safety equipment.

• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

REQUIRED:

• Minimum Acceptable Experience Level: 3 - 5 years' experience working with Toyota or Nissan vehicles.

• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

o Knowledge of automotive repairs and maintenance.

o Ability to follow directions and communicate with staff and co-workers.

o Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment.

• Education: A high school diploma or GED.

• Licenses and Certifications:

o Valid drivers' licenses from Home of Record.

• Security Vetting: Already possess an active DoD or DoS Secret clearance or be able to obtain a favorable Secret clearance prior to being hired. Must maintain eligibility for the duration of the contract.

• Language Skills: Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures.

• • Medical: Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq. Must maintain physical and dental requirements for duration of deployment.

DESIRED:

• Relevant overseas Armored Toyota or Nissan engine and automotive mechanical experience.

• Previous out of home country experience and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions are a plus.

• Experience working with Amentum.

• Valid ASE or similar certification to work specifically on Toyota or Nissan vehicles.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:

This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and 'duck & cover' during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
