BASIC PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION

The Research & Development Department of Kubota Tractor Corporation (KTC) is an independent satellite operation, accountable to Kubota Japan's Tractor Engineering Department (KBT). The main function is to provide support to KBT and KTC by being involved in the standards and regulations community. This includes obtaining and interpreting the most current regulations and standards in the industry, attending industry meetings as a Kubota representative, being involved with and leading new standards development, and working with regulatory agencies to ensure that Kubota products are able to be sold in the appropriate markets.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES: This position does the following in accordance with all applicable Federal, State and local laws / regulations and the Company's policies, procedures and guidelines:

  • Work with internal team and other Kubota teams to support various business initiatives This includes providing support to Engineering and R&D team in setup for KTC Sales and Dealer Meetings. Performing liaison duties with International R&D teams within Kubota to insure timely information flow. Assist with standards and regulatory issues and provide an engineer's perspective in problem solving.

Organize and maintain Kubota's standards and regulatory library. This includes assisting Kubota Corporation (KTC) with up to date standards information and future development. Review owners/operator's manuals and other product literature to meet the most current industry practices and standards. Evaluate new standards and regulations for their impact on Kubota's business as they emerge. Utilize equipment to support design verification/validation methods and participate in equipment demonstrations at KTC Sales and Dealer Meetings. Assist in the development of prototypes by reviewing the machines to the applicable standards and reporting the findings. Attend standards development meetings with government and industry representatives. Submission to various government agencies for compliance under each machine category as required. Be an active member and/or an attendee to standards and regulatory organizations. Order parts, purchase/rent and ship equipment to all Kubota affiliates as required. Other responsibilities as assigned by management.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline required.
  • Experience in off-road or other mobile machinery design and/or compliance preferred. Also, mechanical skills in equipment assembly, repair, and ability to read schematics a plus.
  • Knowledge and ability to use test equipment and tools.
  • Proficient with common word processing, data base, and spread sheet software.
  • Must be able to work independently and anticipate requirements of many different people in fast paced, cross functional, international environment.
  • Ability to travel 20-30%.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to lift and carry packages up to 50 Lbs. Ability to mount and dismount off-road mobile machinery. The position will require walking, standing and sitting at a computer.
