Position Description:

The Department of Mathematics at Barnard College invites applications for the position of Lecturer, an indefinitely renewable appointment, to begin in September 2025.

The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester, including introductory level courses appropriate for first year students, and possibly the capstone requirement (senior seminar) for all majors offered by the department. Additional duties include overseeing the Calculus Curriculum in coordination with the Columbia Director of Calculus, evaluating transfer credits, and students' advising.

Application Requirements:

Candidates must have a PhD in Mathematics, and an outstanding record in undergraduate teaching.

* Sample teaching evaluation for a maximum of five courses. Experienced lecturer should submit at least five teaching evaluations. [Upload the teaching evaluations under Writing Sample (or Publications) .]

* At least two letters of recommendation addressing the candidate's teaching.

For external candidates: Letters of Reference will be requested shortly following your application. Please be prepared to share the names and contact information for three professional references. They will be contacted directly via Workday to submit their letters of recommendation.

For internal candidates: Include the names and email addresses of your * three references in your CV.

We will move your application forward after receiving at least two substantial reference letters.

Review of applications will begin on March 3, 2025. Application materials received by March 3 will be prioritized. All applications must be received by March 15, 2025.

Salary: $85,000 - $120,000 annually

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the College's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
