Prime Contract Manager - Military Veterans

We are now recruiting for a Prime Contract Manager to join us permanently on one of our projects sites located near Newbury and HQ in Warrington.

Scope:

As Prime Contract Manager you will be responsible for managing and administering the head contract with the client which facilities a range of major design, construction and decommissioning projects. You will develop and implement an effective contract and procurement management programme which ensures compliance with requirements, assurance of commercial delivery and manages procurement activities resources.

You'll also be responsible for the administration of the prime contract, subcontracts and procurement. Be responsible for reporting cost and commercial performance of the programme and supporting the Programme Commercial Director in meeting the programme goals/objectives.

A key contact for liaising between internal and external customers/stakeholders to ensure appropriate dissemination of commercial information, guidance, continuous improvement and reporting.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains lead role for commercial team in communications and submissions of documents etc. between Amentum and the client under the NEC4 Option E contract, coordinates client comms with rest of project team
  • Advises the project leadership team in commercial aspects of day to day project contract operations including communications and documentation etc exchanged with the client
  • Responsible for CEMAR housekeeping including monitoring, being proactive and reporting on CEMAR communications in all forms (PMI, GC, EW, etc) with sharp focus on response times and past due replies/ adverse conditions/situations
  • Responsible for coordinating/ monitoring any client contractual/ commercial meetings employing standard practices e.g. agenda, time limit, recording decisions, agreeing actions, maintaining an action tracker.
  • Compiles the client AFP and strictly monitors withholding/ disallowed costs, responsible for coordination of recovery actions and return to green for any adverse indications (responses, overdue actions, withheld/ disallowed costs)
  • Compiles and submits Quotes/ CEs and manages closure of these items ensuring that team are kept engaged throughout the process
  • Ensures Amentum governance is adhered to prior to any issue of contract related comms e.g. CEs, DoV, informal variations to contract in any form
  • Responsible for day-to-day management and development of up to two Commercial Adminstrators to help support and deliver the services required.

Education/ Experience

  • Ideally degree qualified in Commercial, Legal, Business, Engineering or other relevant discipline
  • Chartered or equivalent (CIPS , RICS etc)
  • Proven experience in a commercial delivery role
  • Major project delivery - primary working experience as a prime contractor rather than a client-side consultant
  • Experience of working collaboratively project/programme/client environment
  • Experience of working in a safety and quality driven environment
  • Dispute avoidance and dispute management experience
  • Experience of working in the nuclear industry
  • Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process
  • Significant experience of ERP systems and CEMAR
  • Experience of developing and managing a small administration team

Additional Experience:
  • Client facing/ Client management experience.
  • Managerial abilities and excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to establish, implement and monitor high standards of excellence in areas of quality, safety and operational performance.
  • Understanding the levels of scrutiny involved in spending public money
  • Familiarity with Public Procurement Regulations
  • Working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 suite of contracts
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint).

Work Environment
  • Office & Construction environment
  • Hybrid: 75% on site and 25% working at home
  • Visits to work partner or supply chain premises

Currently hold SC or prepared to go through the SC process.
