The Senior Systems Engineer will be responsible for technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding. Also responsible for technical planning, system hardware-software-network design, development and integration, verification and validation, and fielding. Evaluates alternatives including cost and risk, supportability and analyses for total systems. Duties include performing systems requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition, technical management, integration, system testing, and quality assurance. The Senior Systems Engineer will also be responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of the IT systems while meeting the needs of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Develops solutions to complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple area or disciplines. Regularly employs ingenuity and creativity to develop new technical solutions and systems in order to achieve functional objectives.
Design, implement and maintain the network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
Design and maintain organization-wide multi-site computer systems.
Design, deployment and maintenance for VoIP systems.
Works to achieve key project/program objectives and deliverables. Responsible for entire projects or processes spanning multiple technical areas. Manages large projects or processes with impact on the achieving program results.
Monitor systems and network performance, security, and availability and troubleshoot issues as necessary.
Implement system-wide security measures, including servers, operating systems, firewalls, access control lists, and VPNs.
Manage and maintain system-wide disaster recovery plans.
Plan and implement system upgrades, including hardware and software upgrades.
Collaborate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration of systems.
Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in the field of systems engineering.
Mentor and provide guidance to junior network and system administrators.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field and 8 years’ experience. Will consider experience in lieu of education.
Experience: minimum of 5 years of experience in network administration and management. Experience troubleshooting, maintaining and updating hardware/software on Microsoft, Linux and Cisco platforms.
Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN. Ability to design and support cisco wireless, ISE, Prime and backhaul wireless links. Knowledge in Cisco Nexus OS, Cisco IOS and Cisco routing protocols is required. Managing complex systems throughout their life cycles and integrating various components, subsystems, or processes. Connecting and integrating disparate software, hardware, or other systems into a single unified system. Requires expert knowledge of and ability to apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately perform routine tasks and maintain documentation.
Time Management: Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Problem Solving: Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex technical issues.
Certifications: Relevant certifications, such as CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, Cisco, VMWare, Microsoft certifications are highly desirable.
Leadership: Strong leadership skills, with the ability to mentor and train junior team members.

Pay Range:
Pay Range $104,650.00 - $189,175.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
