Hamilton College has a long history of celebrating donor legacy, primarily through planned giving. More than twenty-five years ago the Joel Bristol Associates were established as an honor society recognizing those who include Hamilton in their estate plans or establish a trust or similar planned gift in their lifetime. The Associate Director of Gift Planning will be engaged with all elements of Hamilton College's gift planning program, assisting in marketing, gift administration, and prospect cultivation, with the ultimate goal of developing relationships that lead to philanthropic support for the College's priorities while achieving personal, financial and legacy goals of the donors. Key responsibilities will include: assisting in administration of the College's charitable gift annuity program and donor advised fund; working directly with donors to create gift illustrations for consideration; stewarding the Joel Bristol Associates legacy society; overseeing content on the College's planned giving web pages; and participating in strategic planning. The position requires working closely with the Director of Gift Planning, major gift officers, Business Office, and planned giving donors. Responsibilities include working with the Director of Gift Planning to develop and implement strategies to promote charitable giving through estate planning vehicles, tangible personal property, and other complex arrangements. The Associate Director will have primary responsibility over some of the areas described below as best fits the experience of the candidate. This is an exempt position with a pay range of $80,000 - $90,000. Key Areas of Responsibility: Promote gift planning with colleagues and donors that will lead to new planned gifts. Develop personal philanthropic relationships with planned gift donors, including managing a portfolio of prospects/donors. Partner with the Donor Relations team to provide stewardship for planned gift donors. Work with TIAA Kaspick and Hamilton's Business Office to assist in administering gift planning assets under management, including having regular communications with donors, overseeing the reporting on assets under management and managing tax reporting communications. Process life income gifts and bequest intention documentation, including follow-up on web inquiries regarding information on planned giving options. Assist the Director of Gift Planning with estate administration. Work with the Advancement gift processing team, Business Office, and outside auditors as needed. Oversee and maintain records for the Joel Bristol Associates recognition society. Work with the Wellin Museum and other departments on College Hill regarding gifts-in-kind. Assist in administering the Hamilton Donor Advised Fund (HDAF). Work with the Director of Gift Planning and in-house promotions team to promote gift planning to Hamilton alumni, parents and friends and oversee content on Hamilton's gift planning web pages. Use state-of-the-art gift planning software and related services to provide gift illustrations for prospective and existing donors. Maintain up-to-date familiarity with tax laws as they pertain to gift planning vehicles.
