Position Summary
As a Relay and SCADA Support Technical Specialist I at Oncor, you'll support the development, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of the system protection and transmission protection and control (P&C) systems. This role will develop and maintain a close working relationship with Oncor Technology; support in ordering and setting up all-new hardware. The person also supports Transmission P&C Engineering Specialist objectives as they refer to the P&C Transient devise applications. The ideal candidate must possess excellent communication, reporting, analysis, and troubleshooting skills.
This position is a hybrid position based in our 777 Main- Fort Worth location.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with Technology, System Protection, and Transmission Operations to create/update computer software images for all System Protection and P&C devices.
- Serve as a liaison between Technology and System Protection, role is not intended to perform the roles and responsibilities of Oncor Technology End User Computing functions.
- Interfaces effectively with various individuals throughout Transmission, Asset Management, Technology, and contractor organizations, solving problems and developing strategies.
- Work closely with Technology on general issues for all System Protection and Transmission P&C devices.
- Work closely with Technology groups to test System Protection and P&C software applications for deployment to end users via technology such as Workspace One or Software Center applications.
- Maintain user's active directory group for each specific application and ensure proper deployment of software via Workspace One and Software Center.
- Interface with Technology to dispose of outdated/out-of-warranty computers and assets from System Protection and Transmission P&Cs.
- Assist team in problem-solving, and hardware/software configuration development.
- General Understanding of System Protection and Transmission P&Cs software to support the successful implementation from a Technology perspective such as applications include RTS, PowerBase, AcSelerator Quickset, and GE Enervista.
- Support in the review and deployment of all relevant software applications used by System Protection and Transmission P&C devices.
- Support in maintaining all drivers relevant to the System Protection and Transmission P&C devices.
- Support in the development of new Firewall and Group Policies needed to support System Protection and Transmission P&C needs.
- Support in the testing of new software applications that would use by System Protection and Transmission P&C users.
- Performs all essential aspects and functions of the job as well as any other specific job requirements.
Skills:
- Possess excellent application support management skills.
- Must be adaptive and comfortable with rapidly changing objectives.
- Excellent oral communication and effective writing skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve Microsoft Office applications, print/plot server, computer, and software issues.
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent is required
- Bachelor's degree in computer technology, or similar field, with minimum of 2 years related experience OR Associate's degree in the computer technology field, or similar field, with a minimum of 4 years related experience, OR no degree with minimum of 8 years of related experience, OR other relevant equivalent experience. Related experience may include experience in the construction, design, maintenance and/or operation of transmission and substation facilities.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and execute the installation, testing, checkout and trouble-shooting of IED applications, including writing of basic procedures.
