Lab Tech B - Military Veterans

Under the supervision of the Nederland Laboratory Supervisor, the Laboratory Technician will perform routine testing and recordkeeping for proper quality control of all products on assigned shift and testing for external operations as specified.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The essential job duties for this position are listed below:
• Responsible for accurately performing skilled duties in the Laboratory.
• Determines adjustment percentages necessary to blend products which meet manufacturer's specifications.
• Communicate analysis information to other departments by report preparation, telephone or laboratory information management system.
• Coordinates and log all test results with appropriate inspection company.
• Prepares and maintains analysis records and reports for future referral (file according to Customer or Department for access upon request.)
• Perform testing and provide analysis required for business development opportunities.
• Prepare solutions and stocks reagents for lab analysis.
• Prepares Certificates of Analysis as requested.
• Perform Quality testing of loading and unloading of all vessels received according to Customer specifications.
• Performs necessary instrument calibrations as required.
• Determine by lab testing if a vessel is within specifications.
• Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervision.
Special Considerations:
• The described job duties are a framework in which work will be assigned. This description is not inclusive of all responsibilities or job assignments. This position will require extended off-hour duties at times.
• Must be able to work alone with minimum supervision
• Assigned to a 24/7 rotating 12-shift schedule
Required Skills
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
• High school diploma or GED
• Must have a minimum of two (2) semesters of college level math, to include one (1) semester of Algebra and two (2) semesters of college chemistry or previous lab experience.
• Must be proficient in all routine aspects of laboratory operation.
• Must possess and exercise good basic working knowledge of laboratory procedures, product handling and testing procedures.
• Must possess varied instrument and specified methodology applications required.
• Must be proficient in college math to determine blend percentages to upgrade products according to manufacturer's specifications.
• Must be able to determine, monitor, and coordinate analysis of facility effluent byproducts and prepare documentation.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills.
• Must be able to work shift and call-out assignments.
• Must have good judgment and able to work with limited instruction and supervision.
• Approximately 80% of time on the job is spent standing up.
• Requires on call availability at all hours.
• Requires ability to respond to emergencies at all hours.
• Maintain a valid driver's license for the state of residence.
• Experience in handling crude oil, natural gas liquids, and petroleum products.
Working Conditions:

• Lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally
• Driving, walking, and standing frequently
• Exposure to adverse weather, cramped conditions and some heavy lifting
• Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment
• Requires prolonged walking, sitting, bending, stooping and telephone/radio communications. Ability to stand for long periods of time.
