POSITION DESCRIPTION
Scope technical tasks and develop creative solutions to assigned problems. Begin using systems and meeting requirements with minimal supervisory guidance. Accepts complex tasks and receives minimal guidance from senior professionals.
Incorporate conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning.
Provide limited guidance and direction to less senior engineering professionals.
Carry out development and qualification programs on tasks concurrent with other phases such as design and fabrication to better evaluate and minimize future problems.
Develop alternate solutions to existing problems. Perform all detail work necessary to determine best solutions.
Evaluate proposals and make recommendations based on proposed projects/tasks in area of assignment.
May delegate portions of the detail work to less senior personnel.
Prepare costs and schedule estimates on proposed projects/tasks in assigned area. Demonstrate cost and schedule consciousness through timely completion of assigned tasks and projects.
Prepare manuals and other documents supporting or publicizing the technical effort. Demonstrate creative ability through medium of patent disclosures, problem solving, engineering reports, technical papers and articles.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
In applicable science or engineering discipline entry level PhD degree, MS degree with 2-4 years experience; or BS and 5-10 years experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening.
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.
  • Understands and applies advanced knowledge of discipline's standard theories, concepts, principles, and techniques; has working knowledge of standard engineering/scientific practices and applications.


Desired Qualifications
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred.
  • Value Management engineering studies and alternative solutions.
  • Development and implementation of system engineering software tools (e.g. CORE, DOORS, Expert Choice, etc.)
  • System and design reviews
  • Requirements management tracking, validations, and verifications.
  • Development and execution of project management plans
  • Systems functional modeling, layout, and analysis


PF-81 Evaluation Criteria:
-Price and Cost to Company: 20%
-Technical Acceptability: 10%
-Availability & Qualifications of Personnel- 20%-Prior Systems Engineering experience
-Availability & Qualifications of Personnel- 20%-Prior DOE, SRS/SRNS, Design Authority, Design Engineering, Project Engineering Experience
-Availability & Qualifications of Personnel- 20%-Possession of an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years / ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance.
-Availability & Qualifications of Personnel- 10%-Availability of candidate to mobilize and begin execution of the duties of the position.

Duration of the Contract: 1 year, 2 option periods.

Estimated Hours Per Year: 2,080 ST / 400 OT

Work Schedule: Mon-Thurs 6:00a-4:30pm

Onsite or Remote? Local candidates or willing to relocate at the candidate's expense. 100% remote, occasional travel to SRNS site.
