We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounts Receivable/Accounts Payable Specialist with experience in the education industry to manage financial transactions, ensure timely payments, and maintain accurate financial records. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate with internal departments and external vendors.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Receivable (AR):
Process and record incoming payments from students, parents, vendors, and institutional partners.
Generate and distribute invoices, tuition bills, and payment reminders.
Monitor outstanding balances and follow up on past-due accounts.
Work closely with financial aid departments to track scholarship disbursements and payment plans.
Maintain accurate records of all transactions in the accounting system.
Accounts Payable (AP):
Process and verify vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and compliance with institutional policies.
Manage approval workflows and coordinate with department heads for expense approvals.
Prepare and schedule payments via check, ACH, or wire transfer.
Reconcile statements and resolve discrepancies with vendors and suppliers.
Maintain records of all payments and expenses for audits and reporting.
General Accounting & Compliance:
Assist in month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring financial accuracy.
Prepare financial reports related to receivables, payables, and cash flow.
Ensure compliance with financial policies, industry regulations, and tax requirements.
Work closely with the finance team to improve processes and reporting efficiency.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
Experience: 2+ years of AR/AP experience, preferably in the education sector.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or an ERP system).
High attention to detail and accuracy in financial data management.
Ability to handle sensitive financial information with confidentiality.
Strong communication skills to interact with students, families, vendors, and internal departments.
Preferred: Experience working with tuition management systems and educational grants/funding.
