A Process Engineer is needed for a multinational biotechnology company that specializes in the discovery, development, and delivery of therapies for the treatment of neurodegenerative, hematologic, and autoimmune diseases to patients worldwide in the Durham, NC area. The Process Engineer will support lab-scale recombinant protein manufacturing (50-1000L) by operating bioreactors, analyzing experiments, maintaining equipment, assisting with tech transfers, and contributing to process modeling, lab productivity, and continuous improvement efforts.

responsibilities:
- Operate stainless steel and single-use bioreactors from cell thaw to drug substance (DS) fill.
- Support laboratory work to achieve Chemistry, Manufacturing, and Controls (CMC) milestones and 2025 pilot goals.
- Plan, document, and analyze experiments related to recombinant protein manufacturing.
- Utilize modeling tools for process predictions and optimization.
- Assist with technology transfers to company manufacturing facilities.
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot lab equipment.
- Perform repairs and commission new equipment as needed.
- Ensure laboratory productivity and contribute to lab upgrades.
- Support continuous improvement and innovation projects.
Skills:
- Experience working in a laboratory setting.
- Preferred experience with sterile technique and biologics development at any scale.
- Ability to learn quickly, adapt to change, and work flexibly.
- strong work ethic, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in laboratory techniques, computer applications, and documentation.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biochemical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 1 year of work experience in a laboratory environment or biotechnology company (preferred).
