Transport & Customs Operations Specialist - Military Veterans

Main Accountabilities:

Coordinate US customs operations (import and export) for High Voltage. Check shipping documentation to ensure trade compliance (correct harmonization tariff schedule codes (HTS / HS codes) and coordinates with International Contracts Management team for all other required export documentation. Prepare customs instruction (GTS) in SAP system for Customs Brokers according to internal regulations. Actively collaborate with internal customers to receive and provide information on customs related matters. To support savings opportunities in customs matters: Prepare daily, monthly & yearly reports that shows the performance (KPIs) for customs operations. Support the execution of inbound and outbound shipments: planning and scheduling (air, ocean & ground), requesting booking with selected carrier or forwarder, coordinate pick up of the goods, assist and monitor the customs clearance process and coordinate final mile delivery. Being back up to provide the best transportation options for shipments in terms of transit time, cost & service. If needed to support with tracking shipments and utilizing carriers web portals from the pick up to the final delivery. Prevent and avoid in customs to secure On time pick up, On time delivery vs committed date, On time delivery vs requested date and if needed analyse causes of delay.

    Organizing, Planning, and Prioritizing Work to support all HV Hitachi Energy North America sites. Working in a matrixial organization (report to CoE in Mexico but located in the main factory to serve). Monitoring and reviewing information from the buyers (planning & fulfilment team), material vendors, CoE, and in the system (SAP - S4 Hana). Establishing and Maintaining Relationships -- Developing constructive and cooperative working relationships with others, and maintaining them

    Knowledge, Skills, Experience: Break it out as Basic And Preferred Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications (Mandatory):
    • Advanced knowledge in customs Law and Regulations (HS codes, Incoterms, customs procedures: free trade, relation with customs brokers) is a must.
    • Bachelor's' degree in Foreign trade, International Business, Logistics or similar specialist.
    • 5+ years of experience in customs and transportation (managing inbound / outbound shipments).
    • Have proven experience working with logistics suppliers (freight forwarders, ocean carriers, custom broker).
    • Ability to work independently with a sense of urgency and good team player.


    Preferred Qualifications:
    • Bilingual skills (English & Spanish)
    • Coming from a custom broker is a relevant plus.
    • Experience in working with SAP S4 Hana (modules of GTS & TM)
    • Local transport market knowledge including equipment, port and airport operations as well as relevant restrictions and regulations and legislation.
    • Advanced desktop computer skills including Microsoft Excel and Outlook required.
