UDR, Inc. is now hiring a Manager - Payroll to join our team at our corporate office in Highlands Ranch. UDR, Inc. is publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust with operations throughout the United States. Approximately 1400 Employees.
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Develops procedures for and supervises the preparation, documentation, and disbursement of all payroll checks, payroll taxes, and associate information on the payroll systems. Compile statistical information and prepare various reports.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Payroll Administration:
- Establish uniform methods and practices, including workflow, time frames, performance standards, and business practices to enable all associates to be paid with appropriate controls and accurate charging to proper fund sources.
- Partner with managers and vendors to process payroll and provide appropriate customer services. Work closely with the Finance and Accounting department for budget and payroll forecasting and tax processing, as required.
- Analyze payroll service operations and develop short- and long-range plans to integrate payroll system, services, and personnel.
- Ensure that payroll processes, procedures, service delivery, and records management are uniform, consistent, and adhere to federal and state regulations and guidelines.
- Oversee and perform all regular duties associated with the overall management, administration, preparation, generation, and distribution of the Company's bi-weekly and weekly payroll and year-end W-2s.
- Interpret for employees and management, staff policies and regulations as they relate to the payroll function; keeps abreast of new developments and changes in these areas.
- Manage, review, and audit timekeeping system to ensure system is calculating hours and paid time off accurately according to state laws and company handbook.
- Explain payroll calculations and deductions to employees and managers, investigate payroll problems and make appropriate corrections.
- Process manual checks electronically and send to the Treasury department for electronic processing.
- Work with Company SOX team to ensure compliance with all guidelines and regulations.
- Coordinate with external tax service to ensure tax compliance.
- Generate daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for high level internal clientele.
- Act as liaison with outside computer payroll processing company for problem resolution and error correction.
- Perform other duties as assigned or as necessary.
- Hire and train new staff and develop staff to maximize potential.
- Supervise and direct internal and external resources in accordance with overall company policy.
- Monitor staff performance including performance reviews and address performance problems through corrective action and dismissal.
- Approve time records and requests for time off.
- Assist direct reporting staff to address and resolve concerns or complaints involving job duties and job descriptions, performance standards, relations with coworkers, relations with supervisors and managers.
- Knowledge of payroll policies and procedures. Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures. Knowledge of fiscal management and office management techniques. Knowledge of Human Resources policies and procedures. Ability to apply policies and procedures to solve everyday and/or complex company issues.
- Ability to maintain strictest confidentiality. Advanced understanding of data generated from payroll and its relation to other internal business clients needs. Knowledge and understanding of complex financial data as it relates to payroll.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously to meet critical deadlines. Proven ability to generate and comprehend reporting to support financial goals and requests within a publicly traded organization.
- Ability to motivate, develop, and direct people as they work. Ability to apply the principles and practices of work leadership and management. Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities and to lead, train and mentor the payroll team.
- Must be a personable and polished professional. Ability to manage multiple projects, set priorities, exercise sound judgment, and clearly communicates findings and advice. Must be skilled in focusing on desired results, determining what is important and urgent, clarifying next steps, and delegating effectively to meet deadlines and achieve desired results.
- Polished interpersonal skills. Ability to quickly develop strong affiliate and internal working relationships. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers and associates. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
- Performs duties that require strong comprehension, analytical, research, composition, communication, and organizational skills. Knowledge of computer systems and applications. Ability to process computer data and to format and generate reports. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

• $105,000.00/yr. - $135,000.00/yr., depends on experience
Bonus Potential:
• Eligible for 15% annual bonus potential, based on personal and company performance
