<p>The Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for a Full-Time Computer Scientist-GG-1550-13 to work at Chapman Annex, JBSA- Lackland, San Antonio, TX .


<p>This is an interdisciplinary position classifiable in the following series. <br>

<p> The incumbent will be part of the Air Force’s elite Cyber Protection Teams as an Analytics Support Officer/Data Engineer and become a Subject Matter Expert in cutting-edge cyber defense! In this vital role, you will guide diverse teams in evaluating and enhancing security across complex networks, leveraging your expertise to identify real-world threats and improve organizational cybersecurity postures. You will communicate key insights to top leadership, driving strategic decisions and shaping national security through innovative cybersecurity solutions. Mentor your team, fostering skill development for advanced cyber operations and make a pivotal impact on national security. <br>


•Salary $ 129,000-$176,000

•Travel authorized up to 25%

•Position not eligible for telework

•Travel and relocation expenses may be authorized

<p> This position is a Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel Systems (DCIPS) position implemented under Section 504, Title V of Public Law 99-569, Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 1987, as codified in Sec 1601, Chap 83 of Title 10 United States Code which sets forth Air Force policies and procedures for DCIPS. Qualification Summary

<p>Qualifications: <br>

•Position is designated critical-sensitive and incumbent must obtain and retain a TOP SECRET (TS) security clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI). The incumbent must sign a non-disclosure agreement.

•Drug Testing: The Air Force has designated this position as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

•Position may require incumbent to work for either short or extended periods of Temporary Duty (TDY) at locations within and outside the Continental United States, utilizing military and/or commercial transportation, occasionally on very short notice.

•Must have a bachelor's degree in a related discipline such as computer or electronics engineering, computer science, or mathematics.

•A master's degree in a technical related field is highly desired.

•Positions which perform information security as an inherent, primary purpose of their position: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position.

•Cyber Mission Force (CMF) training specified in the USCYBERCOM Cyber Mission Forces Training and Readiness Manual; and AFSPC Guidance Memorandums 10-01 Cybercrew Training, 10-02 Cybercrew Standardization and Evaluation Program, and 10-03 Cyberspace Operations, is a condition of employment. Depending on experience and skill levels, portions of the CMF training may require incumbent to perform an extended TDY for a period of 3 to 6 months. The incumbent must achieve and maintain appropriate CMF requirements as specified in Job Qualification Record (JQR) within 18 months of assignment of these duties. Failure to achieve and maintain CMF requirements may result in removal from this position.


<p> Duties: <br>

•Performs a broad range of IA, MA and Cyberspace operations assignments entailing unique problems, creativity, innovative use of techniques, advanced approaches, and/or new technologies.

•Utilizes scientific inquiry in the independent development of mathematical models and computer programs to evaluate and predict the ability to support assigned projects, studies, or problems.

•Provides technical guidance, advisory support, and assistance on an entire project and/or major phases for broad and varied operations.

•Attends meetings, conferences, briefings, and seminars related to program planning, advanced technologies, and support system concepts.

•Accomplishes professional development and maintains technical proficiency through professional interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development (R&D) organizations, and participation in formal training programs.


<p>Recruitment Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: <br>

•Professional knowledge of engineering, mathematics, statistical analysis, modeling and simulation, and/or other scientific concepts, principles, standards, methods, techniques, practices, and procedures.

•Knowledge and understanding of agency, AF, Department of Defense (DoD) and Combatant Command level doctrine, regulations, policies, guidelines, requirements, and initiatives related to assigned program(s) and project(s).

•Knowledge of security procedures to maintain control of classified material. Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to identify, investigate, resolve complex issues or problems, and modify standard practices and techniques to solve complex interrelated problems.

•Skill, judgment, resourcefulness, originality, and ability to foresee the impact of changing technology. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, in order to produce highly technical reports, position papers, and briefings; resolve conflicts based on mature judgment and experience; effectively negotiate complex issues; and maintain good working relationships.
