Metadata Services Librarian Location: Notre Dame, IN Open Date: Feb 20, 2025 Deadline: Description: The Metadata Services Librarian is responsible for and oversees the development, assessment, and implementation of best practices and procedures related to metadata creation, resource description, and classification with an emphasis on ensuring that the Library's print and digital resources are discoverable and accessible. Key Responsibilities Supervise and participate in all resource description and classification processes, including original and copy cataloging, authority control, batch loading, and local manipulation of records in the library's Integrated Library System (ILS). Resolve cataloging and metadata-related problems and implement procedures to ensure data integrity, uniformity, and reliable, consistent discovery. Serve as local authority on metadata theory and practice, including rule interpretation and formatting conventions. Develop and streamline procedures and workflows for making the Library's digital and print resources discoverable and accessible. Trouble shoot and work collaboratively to ensure continuous access and technical support for digital resources. Update and customize interfaces for digital resource access and discovery. Oversee daily activities of the metadata staff. Help maintain statistical data for reporting purposes. Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Library and Information Science or related. One year of experience in cataloging, metadata, or related technical services activities, including knowledge of related tools and standards such as RDA, LCSH, and MARC. One year of experience managing an integrated library system (ILS).
