Torch Technologies Inc. is seeking a Network Systems Engineer to support the S3I Strategic Targets Lab. Duties include planning, designing, evaluating, installing, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining all network related hardware and software. Must have strong communication skills and be able to effectively communicate technical issues with users, operations team, and customer. While primary focus will be network health and security, candidate will be assisting other administrators in a mixed operating system environment (Microsoft and Red Hat).
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the design, installation, configuration, administration, operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and documentation of lab networks; its associated equipment, devices, and software.
- Responsible for the administration, operation, and maintenance of the lab's network access control (NAC) system.
- Interact regularly with government customers, users, vendors, and other technical professionals to field questions, determine requirements, and provide status updates.
- Create and maintain documentation, network diagrams, policies, and procedures for existing configurations.
- Monitor, review, and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Learn how to administer both Microsoft Windows and Red Hat environments
- Configure systems to user environments.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, a related field or equivalent experience. 2 years of related network systems engineering experience.
Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
DoD 8140 Baseline Certification (Network)
- Understanding of networking fundamentals and various topics such as access control lists, BGP, firewalls, IDS/IPS, load balancers, network access control, OSPF, proxies, trunks, VLANs, VOIP, and VPN.
- Basic understanding of risk management framework (RMF) controls, STIG's, and maintenance.
- Ability to perform network design and implementation.
- Experience with network monitoring, auditing, and analytics tools.
- Experience with virtualized computing environments and virtual networks.
- Self-motivated with a strong sense of customer service.
- Solid organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate, both in writing and verbally, with people of various educational and technical backgrounds.
