Job DescriptionThe Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Community Empowerment Coordinator position exists to manage and coordinate the daily operations of the Asian Pacific Islander Desi American (APIDA) Community Empowerment (ACE) Initiative. This position exists to assist APIDA and underrepresented communities access to higher education opportunities. This position will take a lead role in the development, evaluation and implementation of retention efforts that support the Minneapolis College APIDA student demographic.This position assists in the recruitment of prospective students by developing relationships through community outreach in collaboration with enrollment services. The position serves to actively provide retention services and make informative program decisions through academic advising, special initiatives and monitoring key success indicators for student retention and degree completion. Outreach efforts include working directly with Minneapolis and Saint Paul public schools, community organizations, co-chairing various committees and program sponsored events, public speaking, recruiting, tutoring, event and workshop planning.??This position works to continue to advance Minneapolis College?s aspiration of becoming an anti-racist institution. The role serves as a collaborator within the Equity Inclusion division in providing anti-racist, culturally responsive and equity centered learning opportunities to the Minneapolis College campus through facilitating trainings, workshops, speaker series, representation on college committees and advising student led programming.??This is a 3-year limited full-time position working 40 hours a week, working directly within the division of Equity and Inclusion. Hours and/or days may change during summer and non-class days. Some weekends and evenings will apply.Minimum QualificationsAssociate?s degree and/or a combination of at least one year of professional work experience in fields related to diversity, recruitment, and/or advising.Familiarity of the history, culture, and growing needs of students from APIDA communities. Experience planning and facilitating programs and professional development opportunities related to diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism. Excellent oral, written and communication skills with the ability to write reports and make presentations to groups of various sizes.Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients.Ability be able to effectively prioritize and organize tasks and follow through on activities with competing deadlines. Demonstrates an ongoing understanding of cultural fluency. Incorporates culturally responsive practices, and actively engages in antiracism professional development learning opportunities.Other RequirementsCurrent and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College for consideration.Work Shift (Hours / Days of work)40 hours per week, Monday-Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm, with some nights and weekends.Telework (Yes/No)Yes, position may be eligible for telework per the Minneapolis College's Telework Guidelines.Pay Range MnSCU Academic Professional 2: $25.29 ? $36.71 hourly / $ 52,806? $76,650 annually.Application ProcedureAttach CV/Resume.
